Mattock International
Hello everyone my name is Patrick Smith and I am the heart and soul of Mattock International. I was born on the beautiful caribbean island of Antigua on July 17, 19... (ha, ha made you look) . My music career began at the early age of 15 playing the steel drums with "Champion Band". I also played drums for two of the hottest bands in Antigua "Laviscount Brass" and "Survival Band" and was the drummer for the first ever calypso tent in Antigua.
After a bit of soul searching I decided to advance my music career by traveling overseas to places like Africa, England, France, Germany and Italy just to name a few. Providing backup for such greats as "Third World", "The Mighty Sparrow", "Steele Pulse", "Maxi Priest" and the list goes on. I became known not only for playing steel drums but also for playing regular drums. Because most things in our world is right handed I always seem to amaze people when they realized that I play the drums left handed and a right hand guitar with my left hand. I guess it's one of the great talents given to me by the man upstairs. I entertained on several cruise ships for a short while and decided on a change of scenery. In 1983 I moved to Miami, Florida. It was here that I started the band "Mattock International". For those of you that may not know a "Mattock" is a tool used for digging or mining which symbolizes the strength that is the essence of Mattock International. Mattock was created to keep Florida jumping with it's unique style of calypso, reggae and other styles fused together to create an atmosphere that everyone enjoys. I am now settled in Orlando and have come a long way with my music. I have provided entertainment in Orlando for places like Bahama Breeze,The Mercado,Adobe Gillas,Summer Bay Resort, The Disney Hotel circuit,Hardrock Cafe and Bob Marley's at Universal Studios, Animal Kingdom, etc. In January 2004 I released my first CD "The Light" that was inspired by my wife whom is the light of my life. I offer studio recording sessions and unique music tracks. I offer entertainment for weddings,birthdays, anniversaries, etc. So, remember if your looking for a band or a solo act feel free to call me.
